Bhagavad Gita Chapter 6, verse 24, one should engage in the practice of yoga with determination and faith and not be deviated from the path. One should abandon without exception all material desires born of mental speculation and thus control all the senses on all sides of the mind.
Chapter 6 in the Gita is about Samyama Yoga, which is concentration on the Self.
It takes discipline, full hearted enthusiasm, perseverance, determination and faith.
Asanas, pranayama and mudras take the obstacles out of the way to bring purification, strength, agility and discipline needed for one pointed concentration to experience the Self and reach inner freedom.
Needing to conquer thoughts (abhyasa); the power and discipline of Using mantra in pranayama will bring discipline and steady the mind and purify the subtle body.
The practice of detachment, vairagya to remain in permanent awareness by use of Buddhi the intellect; how much do we rely on memory of our yoga practice and therefore lacking full awareness of the unknown. Having faith, sraddha is important of the unknown to step into.
We need to get out of the way of ourselves, having no expectations but faith.
Ignorance will keep us enslaved into wandering around without purpose.
