Understanding how thoughts that are not deep rooted ie - they just come and go, are not holding muscles in a continued chronic tension. However the ingrained patterns, samskaras underlying our thoughts subconsciously are the ones that cause chronic tensions.
There is a thought known as vikalpa in Sanskrit which is when we use imagination, fantasy or illusion. These are thoughts based from situations from past and imagining different results; daydreaming, thinking of things that do not exist or imagining future situations and events. It is an idea that does not exist in reality.
We can build up samskaras from getting caught up in this mind activity.
We need to use correct thoughts - “pramana.”We can reach a state in mind where vrittis (thoughts) and samskaras (deep patterns) have disappeared.
This is known as nirodha Parinama a state before samadhi, (enlightenment.)
Om Shanti
