Pratyahara

A wise person notices that inner harmony is disturbed when the mind lets itself be lured into indiscriminately sampling the world of phenomena. He tries to remain free by avoiding material attachment, in which objects draw the intelligence like a magnet and the self is enticed into an illusory relationship with the external, seen world, provoking pleasures and pains. (ref Light on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali by Iyengar).

Everything that changes is an object, all of nature, thoughts, emotions, desires, patterns, the body.  In contradiction to all that changes there is that unchanging aspect which sees, hears, touches, feels and experiences and is free from the attachment of what is experienced.

We will work with Pratyahara - withdrawing mind from contact with external objects and internal objects of the mind (thoughts, desires, emotions,) and inwards towards the  unchanging Seer.

Om Shanti
