When the mind stops …. there’s no classification… ego detaches and we see who we really are; Purusha; pure consciousness.
We are not our mind, body or the attributes to life, that being our material aspects or accomplishments even.
When we surrender to the purest form of our being that is the goal and purpose to experience happiness and fulfilment.
We are in a state of imperfection while we become identified with the impermanent which is caused by thoughts, known as vrittis which cause disturbances in the body too.
Yoga is a process to calm thoughtwaves in mind and is the state we drop into when calmness is achieved.
The mind; (‘manas”) can stop receiving, the intellect;(“buddhi”) stops classifying, ego; (“ahamkar”) switches off and the Seer; (purusha, consciousness) abides in his own nature, pure bliss.
This week we will be working the shoulders and detaching from the desiring we have fed from information from our senses.
Using movement of the breath in pranayama, to detach and remove any unconscious reactions, there becomes a dissolving of the ego aspect and we experience the body and mind as stillness.
We will need to bring in 5 attributes otherwise the goal is not achieved.
1- sraddha - faith, trust in past teachers and teachings.
2- virya - strength, energy, perseverance.
3- smriti- memory, recollection.
4 - samadhi - (samprajnata) distinguished focus, absorption
5 - samvega - intensity to all 5 - keen intent, energetic, ardent and vehement
No forcefulness or destruction
Seeing how your effort is - modest, medium or intense?
With utmost effort and intensity leading towards the purest seeing of that which is not mind stuff, we can then surrender to the purest form of our Being.
Om Shanti
