Success in yoga is suspending mind’s activity

Success in yoga is suspending the mind’s activity; desires, thoughts, emotions which are due to external or internal experiences.

These arouse samskaras; the mental impressions stored in the subtle body and exist as an archetype in the brain, and vasanas which are deep rooted desires in the unconscious mind.

Hatha Yoga Pradipika, Ch 2, V 77; by stopping the prana (vital energy /life force) through retention, the mind becomes free from all modifications. By thus practicing (this yoga) one achieves the stage of raja yoga (supreme union).

Using the teachings we will understand how the prana moves in the subtle body and how it affects the physical and mental body.

We learn how to retain the pranic life force within and how this reduces mental activity.

The body can show to slow down in the ageing process and an experience of the stilled mind can brighten our existence as patterns and conditioning are ceased to be active.

We can live with an expansive awareness and less of the mundane existence.

Om Shanti
